I didn’t know much about the Boilermate that was installed in my house until a year ago, when my next-door neighbours 18-year-old Boilermate caused internal damage to their house due to leakage and corrosion.

Not wishing to experience a similar costly traumatic fate, I started my search for an organisation that was knowledgeable in the replacement of a Boilermate, and at the same time provided an improved efficiency solution, at a reasonable cost – however, knowledge of Boilermate systems appeared to be rather sparse.

After a continued search, eventually I was recommended to contact Hartnell’s Plumbing and Heating, who it turned out to be, without doubt, exceptional (sadly I haven’t given that rating to many).

The owner, Matt, turned up on time, listened to what I required (the replacement of the Boilermate & ageing Gas Boiler).

He went away & promptly replied with a full costing to do the job, we agreed a date for the work to be done and this date was honoured.

The team worked exceptionally hard to keep Water, Gas and Electric services running (Water was off for the 1st working day) and how they managed to get the Boilermate out of the house without causing any damage, I don’t know – a Boilermate is not the lightest or smallest thing to lift and transport down a flight of stairs.

Whilst the team were on site, they were courteous and any mess (which was minimal) was cleaned up.

I’m sitting here, a day after the removal of the Boilermate and Gas Boiler, safe in the knowledge that I won’t experience a fate like my neighbour - I’ve an efficient central heating system and it can all be controlled by my mobile, thanks to Matt suggesting replacing my old house thermostat with a Hive thermostat.

Additionally, I have gained some welcomed floor to ceiling cupboard space where the big grey Boilermate was situated and had a radiator installed – bonus!

If you have an ageing Boilermate (which would probably be wise to replace in my experience), or you have a plumbing or heating job that needs attention, I can fully recommend Hartnell’s Plumbing & Heating as your first company to contact - I’m so grateful to Matt for all that has been achieved.

I contacted Matt to ask if he would be able to assist with finishing off our bathroom works with tweaking the water waste and pipe works and installing a new basin.

Matt promptly replied and a date was arranged to visit us to be able to see the works involved. Matt was also able to arrange a return visit to complete the works. Matt went to extra mile to alter our pipe works to ensure a better pipe connection ( rather than just fitting a long extra flex hose )

No query asked was never a problem for some other works elsewhere in the house, so I am looking forward to seeing Matt again for some other works.
